Workshop "Creating a poseable art doll"
When: 3-4, June (Saturday - Sunday, two full days)
What will we work on?
This workshop is designed for those who already have some experience and would like to develop further their skills in dollmaking. I wouldn’t discourage an absolute beginner but if you haven’t created a single doll in the past please contact me before enrolling so that we can decide how you could practice some of the necessary skills before we meet in Clairefontaine.
The process of creating a doll is a magical one and never ceases to astonish. Thought two days you will see how you can create a new personality by the work of your hands.
You will create a 14”/35 cm doll and learn how to:
design a moodboard for your art doll
create full armature for the body,
sculpture a proportional and harmonious silhouette,
design movable neck, arms and legs,
sculpt a head with a felting needle,
add face details and expression,
create a harmonious proportion of the face,
Some elements (like skin for the head) will be pre-sewn by me in advance. However, all participants will receive the doll pattern to be able to create other dolls themselves after the course to develop their own style.
All participants will also receive a customized user manual in a wooden box, which shows the creative process behind creating a poseable art doll.
During the workshop, there will be no possibility to make clothes for your doll. The course focuses on sculpturing aspects. However, all participants will receive a ready to wear outfit for their dolls and the corresponding pattern.
When?
The workshop is very intense and runs for two full days: 3-4 June 2023 (Saturday and Sunday) from 9h to 18h (with one hour break for lunch).
Prices
To attend this workshop you will have to make TWO payments.
You need to register for the Waldorf Doll Retreat 2023 first. You can purchase your entry ticket (67.50 EUR) here.
Once you have the entry ticket, you can then book “Creating a poseable art doll” workshop on Atelier Blasson website (registration link below). This second payment covers your full workshop and all materials (apart from the hair/wig) necessary to create the doll. However, it does not cover accommodation, transport to the venue or anything else.
The price for the two day workshops is 280 EUR.
All materials (apart from the hair/wig for which I will provide you with a list of possible suppliers) needed to make a doll are included in the price.
You will need to bring the following tools to the class: multi-needle felting tool with at least 5-6 spare felting needles, sewing needles, long dollmaking needle, pins, scissors and a measuring tape
Upon payment, you will receive a confirmation email from me including some homework in preparation for the class, plus some other hints ahead of the workshop, including also a list of suppliers where you can purchase your tools and the hair/wig.

English (but participants who speak French, German or Polish are also welcome to attend).
Terms and conditions
The registrations for the “Creating a poseable art doll” workshops are refundable until one month prior to the event.
In case the EWDOR 2023 is cancelled due to force majeure, the participants will be reimbursed the total amount paid for the workshop.
In case the workshop is cancelled by Atelier Blasson, the participants will be reimbursed the total amount paid for the workshop. No other costs (e.g. travel/accommodation) will be refunded.
