When I Grow Up (France)

My name is Bénédicte. I’m the dollmaker behind « When I grow up ».

I was always passioned by creating things by myself, but the first part of my life was dedicated to music (classical piano accompanist , chamber music and music teacher in school).

I came back to hand work a few years ago, due to a move. At the beginning, I just handcrafted a few lampshades with japanese papers…and then I felt how much I missed this particular sensation and emotion, wich is the very essence of making and creation.

I discovered fortuitously the needle felting technic during a parisian Creative Crafts Fair, and began to needle sculpt little animals, funny pets.

And then…I had an absolute heart crush for a doll I saw on internet. I decided to try to create a first woolly little soul, and never stopped !

I put in each doll I create all my pleasure in dollmaking, all the music I have in my heart, all my love for colors and details…and a little part of the countless children who have been my students.

I feel lucky each new day to have found my own happy place !

Workshop: « Let's create an adorable 12inch/30cm woolly soul with a wire armature in neck! »

Level: Intermediate to Advanced dollmaking.

When: (two full days workshop) 1, June - 2, June 2023 or 3, June - 4, June 2023.

Come and spend two days with me and other like-minded people!

During those two intensive days, we will create a doll with needle sculpted head, armature in neck, firmly stuffed arms and legs, and cute details .

My purpose is to guide you through dollmaking process, giving you keys for a more intuitive and creative experience.

Please note that participants should already have some skills in needle felting technic ; we will spend a lot of hours needle felting the head. Hand sewing skills are necessary for this workshop too.

As we will not have time to make clothes for your new born sweetie, it will be my pleasure to offer you a little something (sewn by me): a kind of icing on the cake at the end of our two days together!
